The switch from analog to digital TV is on its way—whether we’re ready for it or not!
For your average dropship reseller, this new phase of broadcasting might be a golden opportunity because there aren’t many resellers getting in on the action as yet, and also because it is something that almost everybody in the civilized world is going to have to use.
But, the downside to this rosy picture is that there are bound to be multiple problems associated with the sale of the digital TV receiver and other digital TV products.
For one thing, there still isn’t a lot known about them.
Gray areas remain with unanswered questions and problems with no solutions to date.
So, is the potential for gain worth the risk?
First, let’s look at the three different digital TV formats:
1. ATSC: The format used in North America, some parts of Asia and some parts of Africa.
2. DVB: Europe, Asia, Oceania, and parts of Africa.
3. ISDB: Japan and Brazil although other South American countries are considering using it, too.
Now, do you see how confusing this is? ATSC, for instance is used in some parts of Asia and some parts of Africa. DVB is also used in some parts of Africa. ASDB might or might not be used in other South American countries other than Brazil.
You will really have to stay on your toes to keep abreast of all this and even then, you’re bound to end up with customers who have purchased the wrong product.
Add to that muddled mix the fact that digital TV won’t convert at all for some types of television related items and you have the recipe for a veritable hash of problems!
Will these things cause problems for a reseller?
No doubt about it!
Still, even knowing that problems are bound to arise, digital TV could be a resellers dream for the most part with the occasional nightmare thrown in for good measure.
What are Some Other Potential Problems With Digital TV?
The sad truth is….there are some other problems that could cause a reseller and customers grief. Here are a few of them:
* Some existing analog equipment will be less functional with the use of a converter box. For example, television remote controls will no longer be effective at changing channels, because that function will instead be handled by the converter box. Ditto for analog based DVD recorders, VCRs, and hard drive DVRs.
* Image problems! DTV images have some picture defects that are not present on analog television. When a compressed digital image is compared with the original program source, there may be: quantization noise, incorrect color, blockiness, and a blurred, shimmering haze. Oh joy!
* Digital televisions have a noticeable delay when changing channels, making “channel surfing” more difficult.
To avoid possible problems with customers, resellers should include ALL of the above information right on the webpage with the product where it is easily seen.

32Lh30 Lg – Very Happy With This Tv
What initially drew me to this TV was the price. The TV at the time was under 500 hundred dollars, no tax, and free shipping. I was relatively hesitant to purchase a TV online since I could not compare and contrast without going to a store and finding similar if not same models.
I am very happy with the purchase. LG HDTV’s have great contrast and the color seems to “pop” more than other brands. With an HDMI cable and a PS3, the visuals get down right beautiful. There are obviously much much much better HDTV’s on the market but this is the one that caught my eye because it has plenty of value behind it. 32″ is the perfect size for my living room since I sit only 5-6 feet away from it.
I would recommend this TV to anyone. The packaging was good, no dings, dents, tears, scuffs, etc. The TV came out pristine.
32LH30 LG – Price and Features
To Compare its features and the price it is the best 32 inch LCD TV I can find. I did read a few different 32-Inch specs and user menus. Samsung and Sharp (I do not remember what modles) are better than this one but about $300 higher. JVC (1080p at sam’s club) about the same price (but $40 tax) and feature but this one has a better picture quality. Vizio has different modles and the picture quality none of them better than this one. I also compare LG32LH40 (120Hz) with this one about $100 higher but some reviews of LG32LH40 reporting few minor issues.
32LH30 LG – Great TV, Even Better Price
After spending numerous hrs online, Best Buy and Fry’s, decided on 32lh30 lg. I was debating between this tv and Samsung LN32B550 to replace a Samsung LN32B540 (720p). I’ve had the samsung 720p a few days and picture quality is excellent except it’s not 1080p. The main purpose of this TV will be as a 2nd computer monitor, the other is a 23″ LG W2353V.
Went to bestbuy and compared image quality, it seem identical, but TVs were not side by side.
Fry’s actually has both the Samsung 550 and LG H30 side by side so you can do a nice comparison. Samsung has deeper blacks. The LGs seem more on the green/gray side when compared only to the Samsung.
I played a bit with the settings but couldn’t replicate the blacks produced by Samsung. However all other colors are almost if not identical to the samsung (GREAT!!!). At Fry’s they were playing iRobot this is where the black levels are noticeable, the TVs were also playing some HD landscape content and here it really becomes a coin toss between Samsung and LG. Some scenes look better on LG others on Samsung. I don’t think you can go wrong with either set. However you will pay a little more for the Samsung, I do have a slight preference to the Samsung bezel though. I figure since I’m already using another LG screen this will compliment it well.
LG is a clear winner on price. LH30 $450, Samsung 550 is $650
However if your looking for a bigger TV run to your local Fry’s…
LG42LH40 $547 and the 47″ for a few $$ more (website shows higher prices)
Too bad 42″ is a little too big as computer screen since I sit about 2 feet away

Are you looking for a new TV for Christmas? Need to have it before the Superbowl? Before shelling out your hard earned cash for a purchase that size, get some feedback from people who have them. Do you have a co-worker or neighbor whose brain you can pick? Well, PC World did just that with 16,000 of their best friends.
In a recent survey, PC World asked 16,000 readers to rate their HDTVs and published their results. Sony was the hands down winner earning the highes ratings in seven of nine categories. While LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp and Vizio didn’t fare too bad, either, the Sony Bravia was number one.
Sony, the electronics giant, known for high-quality, high-end HDTV’s, earned praise for hardware reliability and customer service. “I’ve gone with Sony for many years. I find them to be reliable and high-quality, and they last a long time,” says Alan Ronkin, who bought a 40 inch Sony Bravia a year ago and is pleased with it.
Sony’s experience with HD technology means that it can produce a better picture.
The nine criteria used in the survey were:
Reliability Measures
- Problems on arrival: Based on the percentage of survey respondents who reported one or more problems with the TV set out of the box.
- Any hardware or software problems: Based on the percentage of survey respondents who reported any problem at all during the TV’s lifetime.
- Severe problems: Based on the percentage of survey respondents who reported a problem that rendered the TV impossible to use.
- Ease of use: Based on the percentage of survey respondents who rated their TV as extremely or very easy to use.
- Satisfaction with reliability: Based on the owner’s overall satisfaction with the reliability of the TV.
Service Measures
- Phone hold time: Based on the average time a product’s owners waited on hold to speak to a phone support representative.
- Phone rating: Based on a cumulative score derived from the owners’ ratings of several aspects of their experience in phoning the company’s technical support service. Among the factors considered were whether the information was easy to understand, and whether the support rep spoke clearly and knowledgeably.
- Failure to resolve problem: Based on the percentage of respondents who said their problem was unresolved after they contacted the company’s support service.
- Service experience: Based on a cumulative score derived from TV owners’ responses to questions focusing on 11 particular aspects of their experience with the company’s service department.
What’s ahead for HDTV? Even lower prices and more cutthroat competition, as vendors push for market share and consumers shop for their second or third set. “Now the 52-inch goes to the living room, and the 37-inch or 42-inch retires to the bedroom or den,” The Envisioneering Group’s Doherty says.
But will quality suffer? Possibly for a while, IDC’s Haruki predicts, as vendors beef up manufacturing and support to handle increased sales and users. “Vendors will need to increase service, or they’ll have a lot of dissatisfied customers,” he says. Manufacturing will move to countries with cheaper labor, too. Vendors “may have issues…but only because it’s a transitional period,” Haruki adds. “As time goes on, they’ll figure it out and become more reliable.”
Those who know agree that while other brands will probably continue to have reliability problems, Sony will remain the problem-free leader. Many consumers agree with Bob Mariotti who says, “Buy the best you can afford, and most times it’ll pay for itself in satisfaction.”
Phil Harris of Washougal, Washington, had a different experience, He brought home a 42 inch Visio set from Costco, the TV had issues from day one. “The colors went out, and there were white spots all over the screen,” says Harris, a retired engineer. Vizio sent techs, who “changed a bunch of components, but that didn’t work.”

Nowadays we heard a lot about LCD TV and Plasma TV. So which one is better, LCD TV or plasma?
Technically, LCD and Plasma TVs take different approaches to similar result. Although they create images using completely different technologies, both types of TVs are thin enough to be placed virtually anywhere, and produce a picture that is startlingly clear, sharp, and bright. The major difference between the two is the screen size. Most of LCD TVs have a screen that measures 30″ and smaller, while plasma TVs have a screen of 32″ and larger.
Now let’s compare these two types of popular TVs:
COLOR ACCURACY
Plasma color accuracy will prevail in rooms with low to normal lighting, while LCDs will be better in brighter rooms due to their inherent anti-glare technology.
Winner: Plasma
VIEWING ANGLES
Plasma usually has up to 160° viewing angles, which is about as good as horizontal and vertical viewing angles get. However, LCD TVs lose black level intensity more as the angle off axis increases. This usually occurs after around 90 degrees.
Winner: Plasma
LONGEVITY
LCDs last as long as its backlight does. Plasma, on the other hand, utilizes slight electric currents to excite a combination of noble gases, which is an essentially active phenomenon. So the phosphoric elements in plasma displays fade over time.
Winner: LCD
COMPUTER USE
LCDs display static images from computer or VGA sources extremely well, while Plasma have some issues with each source varying on different models and manufacturers.

ENERGY SAVING
LCDs require substantially less power to operate than plasmas do because of the different technologies they use. Usually LCDs consume about half the power that plasma displays consume.

RESOLUTION
LCD HDTV displays will have a higher resolution than plasma of the same size comparison. For instance, the lowest resolution of a 40 inch LCD will be 1366 X 768 – easily full HD resolution in 1080i or 720p. A 42 inch HD plasma has a resolution of 1024 X 768.

Due to the constantly increasing popularity of High definition televisions, nearly every television company is manufacturing HDTV’s and is selling them in the lowest possible rates. The attractive feature is that that mechanism is global so you need not change it while changing channels. There is the capability of free mode that helps you to freeze the image on the screen if you want. For example, if you were watching a commercial and wanted to capture the phone number on the screen, you could simply freeze the picture while you grab a pen or pencil to write down the phone number.
Cheaper brand HDTV’s are available in the market in every existing design. There are plasma flat panels, LCD flat panels, large screen rear projection and smaller screens and so on. Some of the best selling models of budget priced TV’s are in the 42 inch range. These models usually come with 16:9 widescreen format and normally available in the black or silver colors. These sets include remote controls, ATSC tuner, speakers and television stands.
So even though you may feel like you need to spend thousands of dollars extra on a trendy brand name, you can often find a very sleek looking flat panel with all the same features for quite a bit less.

I knew I wanted a Samsung, as their game has been clearer and brighter than other brands. Sony also found an employee who has purchased a Samsung also apparently Cree. Select model B750, due to a 240 Hz, 2 ms response, limited to the Internet and very clear. This model has a gray on black is less distracting than the red-cut in other models. Nowadays we heard a lot about LCD TV and Plasma TV. So which one is better, LCD TV or plasma?
Technically, LCD and Plasma TVs take different approaches to similar result. Although they create images using completely different technologies, both types of TVs are thin enough to be placed virtually anywhere, and produce a picture that is startlingly clear, sharp, and bright. The major difference between the two is the screen size. Most of LCD TVs have a screen that measures 30″ and smaller, while plasma TVs have a screen of 32″ and larger.
Now let’s compare these two types of popular TVs:
COLOR ACCURACY
Plasma color accuracy will prevail in rooms with low to normal lighting, while LCDs will be better in brighter rooms due to their inherent anti-glare technology.

VIEWING ANGLES
Plasma usually has up to 160° viewing angles, which is about as good as horizontal and vertical viewing angles get. However, LCD TVs lose black level intensity more as the angle off axis increases. This usually occurs after around 90 degrees.

LONGEVITY
LCDs last as long as its backlight does. Plasma, on the other hand, utilizes slight electric currents to excite a combination of noble gases, which is an essentially active phenomenon. So the phosphoric elements in plasma displays fade over time.

LCDs display static images from computer or VGA sources extremely well, while Plasma have some issues with each source varying on different models and manufacturers.

ENERGY SAVING
LCDs require substantially less power to operate than plasmas do because of the different technologies they use. Usually LCDs consume about half the power that plasma displays consume.

RESOLUTION
LCD HDTV displays will have a higher resolution than plasma of the same size comparison. For instance, the lowest resolution of a 40 inch LCD will be 1366 X 768 – easily full HD resolution in 1080i or 720p. A 42 inch HD plasma has a resolution of 1024 X 768.
